There’s nothing like a good illustration prompt to get your juices flowing. The prompt for this illustration was “Turtle”. There’s a saying that goes something like “a turtle is always home no matter where they are”, which led me to the idea of creating these two travelling minstrels in the era of the Great Depression. These characters are getting through the hard times with music, song, some beans and a jug of something. I just absolutely adore these two characters. I even wrote a song based on imagining what they’d be singing!
